This exhibition takes the everyday act of “unboxing” as its curatorial point of departure, extending from the preparation, shipping, waiting, and unpacking of artworks to every stage before creation is seen. Bringing together six artists, the exhibition does not necessarily present finished works, but rather different fragments revealed throughout the creative process—mind, moment, creation, recomposition, life, and time. What audiences “unbox” in the exhibition space are states of becoming, thinking, and transformation, as well as a renewed encounter with the artwork, the space, and the act of viewing itself.

In the exhibition, I present two Tape Art artworks and hand the act of “unboxing” over to the audience. Visitors are invited to peel away the masking tape from the surface of the artworks, participating in the moment the work is revealed. They can then use their own masking tape to draw, collage, and reassemble, creating a piece of their own, packaging it, and placing it on the sharing wall. At the same time, they may take home a work package created by someone else to unbox, extending this creative cycle through exchange, viewing, and participation.
